- Try launching an installed game directly from its desktop shortcut rather than through the Epic Games Launcher, bypassing the launcher's own login check.
- Check whether the problem is one purchased title's store page rather than account login, since the storefront and authentication run as distinct services.
- If a non-Epic game using Epic Online Services fails to log in or matchmake, check whether Fortnite has the same problem, since both share EOS.
Epic Games alternatives to use in the meantime
For PC game purchases specifically, the Steam or GOG storefronts cover buying and launching titles that are cross-listed elsewhere, though your Epic library and any Epic-exclusive titles remain inaccessible until service returns. Why can’t I log in to the Epic Games launcher?
Launcher login depends on Epic’s account services, which are shared with Fortnite and many partner games. When those services have an incident — tracked component-by-component on Epic’s status page — launcher sign-ins fail across the board.
Epic is down — why does it affect other games too?
Epic Online Services provides accounts, matchmaking, and anti-cheat to thousands of external titles. An EOS incident can therefore break logins or multiplayer in games you did not buy from Epic, which surprises players who never open the Epic launcher.
