What to do when PlayStation Network is down
- Check the PlayStation Network status page, which breaks health out by category — Account Management, Gaming and Social, PlayStation Store — instead of one overall status.
- Try signing in through the PlayStation App on your phone — if it connects while the console does not, the fault is local to the console, not PSN.
- Rebuild the console's database from Safe Mode (hold the power button until you hear a second beep) if PSN is reachable but games still will not launch.
- Confirm your router's NAT type is not showing 'Strict' in network settings, since restrictive NAT blocks multiplayer connections independently of any PSN incident.
PlayStation Network alternatives to use in the meantime
While PSN is down, single-player games on disc or already installed keep working since the base game does not need network access. For online multiplayer, PC platforms such as Steam or Epic Games Store remain available, and Xbox Live offers a similar console experience for titles you own on both. Chatting with friends can move temporarily to Discord until PSN's sign-in and social features recover.

What does PSN error WS-37403-7 mean?
WS-37403-7 indicates PSN itself is undergoing maintenance or having an incident — it is a server-side error you cannot fix locally. When it appears, Sony’s status page almost always shows the affected service, and the only real fix is waiting.
Why does my game disc work but PS Store won’t load?
The PlayStation Store is one of PSN’s most incident-prone components and fails independently of gameplay. Disc and installed games keep working during store outages; purchases, downloads, and DLC activation are what break.
